The importance of a varied quality diet while breastfeeding is everything! Not just for your babies health but for your own aswel.

With all my meals at present I try to keep them as colourful and wholesome as possible.
The more colours the better. Here are some reasons to adopt a varied diet while breastfeeding, avoiding as much artificial foods and colours as possible:
-breast milk needs to be as nutritional as possible for babies development. By cutting calories(minimising quality nutrients)your affecting the quality of your milk for your baby. Dieting shouldn’t be an option at this stage of your life. You need varied nutrients for both you and your baby,if you don’t get these through your diet either you or your baby will have less than what you need. Resulting in deficiencies or fatigue and low mood for mother.

-Dieting while breastfeeding will affect your energy. You’ll find yourself zapped and reluctant to do even the simplest tasks, add that to looking after a new baby, sleepless nights and your adding unnecessary stress to yourself.

-make sure you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables daily, the vitamins and minerals will help add to the quality of your milk and also your own health and energy levels.

-try your best to avoid food additives such as :
Ace sulfame-k, Aspartame, Nutrasweet, sweet n low, Sucrose, Splenda, high fructose corn syrup, Olestra and Hydrogenated oils. These can be transferred into your breastmilk and directly to your baby.
Gives yourself and your baby the best possible start in this journey, don’t compromise on yours or your baby’s health for a few pounds of fat which you can get rid of with exercise, time and quality nutrition.

It took your body 9months to create the beautiful bundle you hold in your arms don’t then punish it with bad nutrition and jeopardise your milk quality just to rush back to your pre-pregnancy size. You deserve better don’t be bullied by society and the idea of the norm!
