Lockdown as a family of 7

We have been in shielding since March.

I can never forget the day I came home from doing a food shop, having had a conversation with one of the workers on the tills when I saw that an apparent virus is feared to be coming over to Britain. The gentleman on the till told me don’t worry its just a scare tactic for the media so you buy their newspapers, nothing will come of it…2 weeks later we had to go into shielding to make sure our epileptic son was safe, as one of his major triggers is being around anything that causes a temperature. With his type of epilepsy emergency medication doesn’t bring him around so his seizures last anything from 20 minutes up to at one point hours.

So here we are a whole year later and 3 lockdowns under our belts but more like one big lockdown for us as we haven’t been out of shielding yet.

The first lockdown for me felt a whole lot easier as it was in the warmer weather, we had access to the back garden due to beautiful dry weather and homeschooling my 3 youngest children was more of a fun activity as they found it new and exciting.

Staying home is the safest way to keep my son safe.

So here we are during our 3rd lockdown and in the winter months.

I see all over social media how people are struggling during this lockdown the most, how the virus has put a stop to alot of things like family being able to meet. We haven’t seen our family face to face in over a year. Grandparents having to sit outside the house and play with their grandchildren by talking to a window.

Simple life pleasures that we take for granted are now impossible to achieve.

In hearing that measures are going to be lifted slightly with children returning to school it is making me feel slightly anxious again as the last time these measures didn’t help at all.

Am I the only one worrying that we are going to end up back to square one again?for others this may not be such a big deal but for me and my family it’s another step in the wrong direction of seeing light at the end of the tunnel. We just hope that with the vaccine being rolled out that numbers will begin to slow down and move in a positive direction.

What are your thoughts on the current situations that we are facing?are u like myself and having to shield your family to protect a family member or are you yourself shielding?

I’d love to hear from you and hear how your all feeling during this time?
